Norwegian winter
Many things have happened in the past few months. The new year is here, my birthday has passed and my partner and I have celebrated our 4 year anniversary together.
But the one thing that remains steadily is the Norwegian winter, it hasn't wavered a single bit. Every day has been routinely stepping into the intense cold and battling the ice-cold wind whilst trying to get to work. It's not the greatest season for my depression, you'd hope depression and winter-depression would cancel each other out but they stack.
But today, it has been a positive degree! The snow is slowly melting and I sincerely hope that it continues on this way, because I am sick of the ice and snow.
Notebook that steals my kidneys
When I was back in my own country, I met up with one of my friends. Here is where I got given The 'Notebook that steals my kidneys'. She gave me the notebook with a note attached to it, reading: "I also bought a notebook, let's see who finished the notebook with drawings first and the loser has to donate their kidneys." As a joke of course, but still an intriguing challenge. So, ever since she has given me this notebook I've been drawing in it every other day - or atleast I try to. Underneath will be some of those drawings, as they've turned out very well! It's given me a lot of motivation and consistency which i desperately needed. The idea of this notebook, the though behind it to motivate us both to start drawing again with a silly little challenge attached to it, it means a lot.
(Most of these images were found on Pinterest and I used them as my source of inspiration)
1-The skeleton with no arms, I made another variation of this guy that will be further down this page that I absolutely adore!
2-The horned skeleton, the lines of the pen look really clean and it was really fun to shape this little guy
3-The spider, I adore drawings hands, it's one of the best pieces of the body that I can draw over and over again, really loved the image
4-Rookvrij! (smoke-free), a drawing of my friend that's based on an actual picture I took of her, she was smoking near a 'smoke free' sign
5-Pierced crow, I'm always obsessed with trying to draw the small little details but this time I tried to actively not put them in, and it turned out pretty good!
6-Three-headed women, the imagery of a face with mulitple facets is amazing, I've drawn it before and this way of representing personality traits is great
7-Crows, nothing much more to add I just really like crows, ravens and birds
8-Crane, love birds, the wings and the beaks are just peak game design
The skeleton with no arms, sequel
These past few weeks, my partner and I have been watching Jujutsu Kaisen - and I know this seems completely unrelated but it's not, I swear. There are certain scenes in the anime that are insanely well-made, the lighting is breathtaking from time to time and that inspired me a little bit. Especially, the opening song of Season 3, it opens with this gorgeous scene of a city that's completely covered in red and black and then this bright black darkness in the sky that illuminates a vivid red.
On top of being inspired by those animations, I hadn't drawn in quite a while so this was the perfect opportunity to do something - try something new. And so, the skeleton with no arms, sequel came to light. Where I basically toyed with light and tried to figure out how it would work.
